SEED CERTIFICATION
RYEGRASS Entries received this season for the certification of ryegrass areas are smaller than last season, and there is a resultant reduction in the CanterburyMarlborough area of approximately 450 acres. Mr McGillivray, Fields Superintendent, Christchurch, states that the dry weather in northern districts was the cause of the reduction. If a normal rainfall had been secured there is little doubt that there would have been an increase in entries. The entries and acreages in the various districts under the supervision of Christchurch are as follows: Entries. Acres. North Canterbury .. 76 1871 \ Mid-Canterbury .. 24 705 South Canterbury 61 1355 Mnrlborough 7 69 Nelson .. .. 1 10 No entries were received from the "westlnnci district. The entries in the Marlborough district were heavily reduced by the dry weather.
