SHIPPING NOTES

The Holmglen is to arrive here this morning from Timaru and will take in cargo for Wellington, Wanganui. New Plymouth, and Waikato. The Gale should arrive here to-mor-row from the south. She is to sail on Monday for Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui. , The Storm is Ho be dispatched from Lyttelton to-day for Dunedin, Oamaru, and Timaru. The Foxton is to load at Lyttelton early ne'xt week for Foxton. The Rata is to arrive here on Tuesday from Westport, via Timaru, with coal to the agency of the Union Steam Ship Company. She will load here to the agency of Messrs Kinsey and Co., Ltd., for Nelson and Westport. The Awahou is to take in cargo at Lyttelton on Monday for Waikokopu and other East Coast bays of the North Island. , ' The Waimarino, due on Wednesday from Timaru, is to sail the same day for Picton, Wellington, and Auckland. The Wingatui is due here on Tuesday from Portland, Auckland, and Wellington. She is to sail for Dunedin and Bluff.

THE ABEL TASMAN IN PORT

The intercolonial steamer Abel Tasman, which arrived here early yesterday afternoon from Wellington, brought hardwood and poles from Coff's Harbour and general cargo from Sydney. The vessel, which was formerly in the Baltic timber trade under the name of Nord, is specially built for the carriage of timber, having extra long holds and hatches. She is to sail on Monday for Dunedin. CANADIAN HIGHLANDER DUE

The Canadian Highlander, en route from Montreal, via Australia, is due to arrive at Wellington on December 21 or 22. She will proceed to Lyttelton (December 23-29), Timaru, and Dunedin to load wool, and will clear Dunedin on January 3, sailing for New York, Boston, and Halifax.
