This morning' Detective McLeod arrested Charles Goldsmith, manager of the Waispu Farmers' Co-operative Company, and in making application for a remand the detective stated that orotracted enquiries were entailed. The charge preferred against Goldsmith was that, "on or about Jun«e 6, 1933 at Tikitiki, with intent to de fraud, he obtained from H. J. Fletcher, postmaster at Tikitiki, the sum of £BO, the property of the New Zealand Government Maori Unemployment Relief Fund, by means of a certain false pre tence namely, by falsely representing that one Wi Matahiki had been employed on certain works undei the Maori Unemployment Fund. The accused appeared before the onnvt at Port Awanui this morning 3 wS rananded untill January 17. The remand was granted on the detective's application and with the concpnt of the accused.
