A SMOKE NUISANCE

TO THE EDITOH OF THfl *BXSS. Sir, —As the city was filling' with Christmas shoppers last night, a strong easterly wind blew great volumes of smoke downwards from the destructor chimney, and filled the business area with a thick haze of a foulsome odour. It is bad enough to have to work in such an atmosphere, but worse still for those who live in the central area, and cannot leave their windows open on account of this awful smoke. Has the city council no respect for the decencies of life that it allows such an unmitigated nuisance to exist? Has the Health Department no voice in this matter either? —Yours, etc.. FRESH AIR. December 8, 1933.
