C°««; Bpondence i» invited and questions -will be ansv/er'ed.] The St. John Free Ambulance attended to 121 cases for the week, and o£ these 68 necessitated motor ambulance transport to hospital or to their homes. At the first-aid dressing station, Peterborough street, 49 persons were given treatment by Dr. F. J. Borrle and his staff of ambulance nursing sisters. These cases, for the greater part, consisted of cuts, bruises, and sprains, received in street accidents and nearby factories. A distant call from Cheviot was attended to yesterday. The greatest number of cases receiving attention on any one day was 23, on Saturday last. Ambulance Divisions. The Lin wood rover scout division met at "Whare Kura," 24 St. Helier s street, Linwood, on Saturday evening. There were 18 members on parade

and Superintendent J. E. Stokes was in charge. The evening was devoted to a lecture on poisons, given by Dr.

H. T. Jennings, divisional surgeon, which proved very instructive. * O «S» Members of the Lyttelton railway division met at the sub-centre rooms on Monday evening, there being a good attendance, under Superintendent J. Lister. Dr. C. H. Upham, divisional surgeon, was also in attendance, and gave the last of a series of lectures on first aid, which included instruction in an improved method of transport; also the treatment of burns. It was reported that two members of the division, although not on duty, were able to proceed to the assistance of the two boys who were seriously injured in the fatal motor accident at Corsair Bay on Sunday last. The motor ambulance, recently taken over by the Lyttelton sub-centre, was also able to render prompt service In transporting the injured to the Christchurch Public Hospital, after first aid had been given. Apart from the driver, who was fully qualified, an ambulance man and a nursing sister accompanied the ambulance. is » # The usual parade of the Christchurch division was held on Wednesday evening, at the brigade rooms, when 20 members were present under Superintendent W. M. Palmer. The evening was devoted to the Chapman Cup and Vases competition. Dr. Walton Bremner was the judge, and after the event had been closely contested, the following was declared the winning team: Messrs J. Soulsby (leader), Palmer, Armstrong, and Shaw. * * * Nursing Divisions. The Christchurch Division met as usual at the brigade rooms on Monday

evening, there being a good attendance, under Miss J. Pegler, lady superintendent. The work of the evening was first aid, under the lady superintendent and other officers. The usual meeting of the New Brighton Division was held in the Joy land Hall on Monday evening. Mrs E. Robertson, lady superintendent, was in charge of the parade, and during the evening members practised roller bandaging. Arrangements were made for the break-up social on Monday evening next, at which the first-aid certificates will be presented. ■s> .* * The Selwyn Nursing Division met in the brigade rooms, Peterborough street, on Tuesday evening, there being a good attendance of members, under Mrs E. Angus, lady superintendent. The usual public duties were arranged for the St. John free ambulance, and later Dr. Caroline Stenhouse, divisional surgeon, gave an address on "Foods and Digestion." * # * The weekly meeting of the No. 1 Girl Guide Nursing Division was held on Tuesday evening last at brigade headquarters. Miss G. A. Donaldson, lady divisional superintendent, presided over an excellent attendance of members. After the business of the meeting the divisional surgeon, Dr. F. W. Helmore, attended, and gave a lecture on "Street Accidents." After the surgeon's lecture the lady superintendent took the opportunity of thanking him for his assistance during the year and for the interest he has taken in the division. Arrangements were made for members to go on public duty on the St. John free ambulance at the usual time.
