FLOWER SHOW

* FINE DISPLAY AT WAIAU

The Amuri flower show was held iu the Wuiau Hall on Thursday, and proved a very successful function. - There were good entries, the exhibits were attractively staged, and were' tor the most part, in spite o£ tho exceptionally dry season, of a high standard. The judges ivere Mr Nairn and Mrs H. Acton-Adams. In his remarks Mr Nairn complimented tho exhibitors on tho ilnti <lisplay. The exhibits in the decorative section wore equal to any in Canterbury, be said. Ho referred to the winning exhibit in tho collection of 12 varieties of cut flowers, also to that in the collection of si.v varieties, as boing of outstanding merit. The roses were) of higli standard, though showing to gome extent tho ill-effects of tho dry weather. , - An exhibit, for exhibition only, which attracted considerable attention, was a large collection of cut flowers from tho AVaiau School gardens. Mr Nairn, complimented the girls on their interest in horticulture, and on tho splendid arrangement of the collodion. This exhibit was awarded a special prise. - - The show wan declared open by Mrs (<. Hartnell, wifo of the president, of the Amuri Agricultural and Pastoral Association. The Awards.
