REPRESENTATIVE TEAMS PLAYERS CHOSEN TO PRACTICE The sole selector to the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association, Mr R. Browning', has chosen the following players for special practice with a view to the selection of the Canterbury teams for the Anthony Wilding Shield and Kathleen Nunneley Casket competitions: — Wilding Shield. Nunneley Casket. C. Angas. Miss M. Wake. H. A. Barnett. Miss r. Poole. W. R. Robinson. Miss N. Bishop. H. Dymond. Miss E. Rudkin. T. Rhodes-Williams.Miss I. Poole. A. R. Cant. Miss M. Sherris. H. S. P. Andrews. Miss B. Gould. If I. A. Seay is available his name will be included. Seay is at present absent from Christchurch. . The foregoing players are being removed from the respective ranking lists until the end of December The selector has drawn up a schedule of matches with the object ot selecting four players for each team. The personnel of the teams must be in the hands of the secretary of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association by December 19. The shield and casket competitions will be held at Wilding Park from December .26 to December 29.
CHAMPIONSHIPS IN QUEENSLAND
DAVIS CUP PLAYERS COMPETE BRISBANE, December 8. The Queensland tennis championships held unusual interest this year because of the appearance of the Davis Cup players J. B. Crawford, A. Quist, and V. McGrath. Results: — Men's Singles. Quarter-finals. Crawford beat C. B. Moon, 6-2, 6-2, 6 Quist beat Grinstead, 6-1, 6-1, 6-1. Goodwin beat Cummings, 6-2, b-4, 13-11 E. F. Moon beat Poultney, 6-0, 6-1, 6 " 3 ' Women's Singles. Semi-finals. Mrs Crawford beat Miss Moon, 6-4, 6-2. Mrs Molesworth beat Mrs Westacott, 1-6, 8-6, 6-3. Men's Doubles. Quarter-final. Goodwin and Grinstead beat Hood and Cransfield, 6-3, 6-1, 7-5. Semi-final. Crawford and Moon beat Goodwin and Grinstead, 6-4, 6-4, 6-2. Crawford and Moon will meet McGrath and Quist in the doubles final to-morrow. SECOND TEST POSTPONED PERRY INJURES HAND SYDNEY, December 8. The second tennis test at Brisbane has been postponed for a week owing to an injury to F. J. Perry s hand, leceived when he fell m an exhibition match at Dubbo on Wednesday.
