FRIENDS OF ST. BEDE'S Under the heading "Requiescant in Pace," the "Bedean," the magazine of St. Bede's College, published on December 1, refers to the death of two generous benefactors —Mrs J. S. Barrett and Mrs Alf Brustad. "Mrs BarretC the "Bedean" says, "was a prominent member of a little band of sterling friends, who have stood by the college with unflagging fidelity since its first foundation at Ferry road. She was a woman of singularly noble and generous instincts and her Catholicity was of the fervent and whole-hearted type of the early Christians . . . while her charity reached out to all in distress and was done withthat humble which comes from a correct understanding of Catholic faith and Se ThTnews of the death of Mrs Alf Brustad was received on November 30, as the "Bedean" was going to press. "We are deeply grieved, it says. sorrow has come to sadden the last years of a staunch friend of the college, Mr Walter Clifford, the father of Mrs Brustad, who was better known to Bedeans of a few years ago when, as Miss Aroha Clifford, she and her mother, the late Mrs Clifford, took a keen interest in St. Bede s and all that concerned it. We feel that her untimely death has robbed us of one of the most loyal friends that the college had during its first years at Northcote road. To her grief-stricken relatives, and in particular to her father and to her husband, Mr Alf Brustad. we offer our sincerest condolence." The Rev. Father A. L.
