SEVERELY BURNED
BUCKET OF BENZINE ON FIRE (ritESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WANGANUI, December 7. There wag some excitement at the Marton Dental Clinic this afternoon when a bucket containing in which Nurss Cochran was cleaning socks, ignited from a gas jet burning a few feet away. The nurse rushed for assistance, and a man who was passing tried to smother the flames with a mat, which also caught fire. Another passerby, Mr N. Meredith, took off his coat, which he pushed into the bucket. Both his arms were immersed in flaming benzine, and he sustained severe burns, extending to the elbows. After being attended to by n doctor, the injured man was conveyed by ambulance to the Wanganui Hospital. The fire was extinguished without much damage being done.
