BROADCASTING OF CRICKET
SUGGESTION FROM CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION
A suggestion for the control of broadcasts of representative cricket matches was approved by the man- I agement committee of the Canterbury Cricket Association at its meeting last night. It was in the form of a remit which it decided to forward for consideration by the New Zealand Cricket Council at the biennial conference and annual general meeting. The remit, which was approved by the committee unanimously, read:— That (a) the New Zealand Broadcasting Board be granted permission to broadcast a description of the play in each of the representative matches; no fee to be charged for the privilege; the home association to have the right either to select or approve of the announcer; the Broadcasting Board to permit the newspapers in the main centres other than that in which the match being broadcast is being played to use the broadcast description; or (b) the Broadcasting Board be charged a fee for the right to broadcast.
