VISIT OP TOURING TEAMS PROTEST ABOUT CHARGES IX AUCKLAND 'PRESS ASSOCIATION* TBLK6RAM.) AUCKLAND. October 17. Strong criticism of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association was expressed at a meeting of delegates to the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association. Exception was taken to the action of the Dominion body in fixing the admission charges for the matches to be played by the visiting English team at a minimum of 5s lOd, to the allocation of Wednesday instead of Saturday for the match in Auckland, and to the non-inclusion of an Auckland match in the itinerary of the Australian players, Quist and Turnbull.

The following motion was adopted unanimously; "That this meeting of 80 delegates, representing 6000 members of the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association, expresses grave dissatisfaction with the arrangements made by the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association for Auckland's participation in the visits of the English team, and of TurnbulJ and Quist; first, in regard'to the suggested minimum price of 5s lOd, and second to the refusal of the association to arrange an AuoKland match with the English team on November 4. While this meeting considers that on any day the prices suggested are 50 per cent. too high, it is of opinion that Auckland, if given a Wednesday match, with a minimum price of 5s lOd, should decline the match. It feels that the action of the New Zealand Association in these matters is unfortunately consistent with the lack of consideration shown to Auckland on many previous occasions." It was also decided to suggest that, in the best interests of the game, the admission charges- for the matches against the Englishmen and Australians should be fixed at 2s Od for standing room, and for seats on the temporary stand, and at 3s for other parts; and further, that the meeting should recommend the emergency committee, in the event of permission to reduce the charges accordingly not being obtainable, to decline the matches.
