Two dozen watermilla were turning busily. Bathers walked down to the river to bathe, and women took buckets of water for washing. Five minutes later the river bed was dry. Bathers could not even paddle. All the wstermills stopped. This was what happened recently at the town of Kulenvakuf, near Nihatch, Bosnia, through which the River Ostrcvitza flows. It was soon discovered that all the 17 springs in the mountains above the town, which supply the river with water, had suddenlv gone dry. An hour later- they "started again. Geologists say that movements of the rock masses of the mountains cause cracks to occur. The water of the springs, is diverted into them. When the cracks are filled the springs begin to flow again.
