YESTERDAY'S TRANSACTIONS Markets were very quiet on call yesterday and the bulk of the recorded dealings was in the gold mining section. Government issues were firm at late,rates, the 4 per cent, stock and bonds due 1949 ex interest claimed buyers at £IOO ss, with sellers at £lOl 10s for the stock. Bank of New Zealand were easier, with sellers at 47s 3d, buyers at 465. Unsupported sellers of Union Bank of Australia reduced their limits to £lO 4s 9d. Goldsbrough, Morts were fractionally firmer with dealings and further buyers at 29s 2d, sellers at 29s 4d. Buyers of Daigety and Company shares raised their bids to £ll 2s 6d, sellers at £ll ss. New Zealand Refrigerating (10s paid shares) were fractionally firmer at 9s 4d, sellers staying in at that price, buyers at 9s 3d. Westport Coals had business at 13s 6d, buyers staying in at that price, no sellers. New Zealand Breweries relapsed to 37s 6d and more were offered at 37s 7d, buyers at 37s Id. Buyers of Staples Brewery shares raised their bids to 28s 6d, sellers at 29s 9d. Electrolytic Zinc ordinary were firmer on buyers' offers 26s 2d. Mount Lyells were firm with sellers and business, at 245, buyers at 23s Bd. Nevis Diesel Electric (Is paid) changed hands at lljd, sellers staying in at that figure, buyers at lid. Central Shotover (9d paid) were fractionally weaker at Is 2d, market closing Is buyers. Is 3d sellers. Golden Point were steady with sellers and business at 2d, closing quotations Jd on either side. New Cornish Point (6d paid) remained unaltered with buyers and business at Cd, sellers at 6Jd. Okaritos were firm at 10s 7d, and" there were further sellers at that price, buyers at 10s OJd Unlisted Stocks. £IOO Investment Executive Trust B debentures changed hands at £96, and there were further sellers at £96 10s, buyers at £94. Were's Investment Trust realised 4s 3d and more were wanted at 4s 2d.
