PORT CHRISTCHURCH LEAGUE
SEAT LAIN K 15ASK I'KOl'OSEl) A suggest ion that the Defence Department should be approached with the suggestion for the use of Port Christehurch as a seaplane base was made at a meeting of the executive of the Port Christehurch League yesterday by ISTi- C. F. Pryke. On the suggestion of the chairman (Mr J. Longton) it was decided to discuss the suggestion at the next meeting. Also present at the meeting were: Messrs R. B. Owen, T. Harker, W. J. Fletcher, F. M. L. Sheppard, S. McAlister, Dr. J. W. Crawshaw, and Mr R. B. Cotton (secretary). The report on the Port Christehurch scheme, which had been prepared by Mr Cotton for presentation to the Access to the Sea Commission, was read, and the chairman stated 1 hat Ihe league would give evidence before the commission next Thursday evening. Dr. Crawshaw agreed to give a public address 011 Port Christehurch and similar undertakings abroad.
