Auckland—Dull overcast; weather on Saturday morning was followed by continuous rain from mid-day until evening, the light wind changing from north-east to south-east during the afternoon. Yesterday the weather was squally and showery, with intervals of sunshine. The barometer was steadv at 2!).85in all dav.

Wellington—The weather in Wellington on Saturday was fair to cloudy, with a fresh to strong and squally north-westerly wind, rising in gusts to 40 miles an hour. The temperature at 4 p.m. was 53 degrees. The wind died down during the evening and at 5 a.m. yesterday a light southerly set in. At 11 o'clock this freshened considerably, the sky became overcast, the temperature fell, and rain commenced. At times the rain was heavy, but bv 2 p.m. it ceased. The wind dropped, and the sky became partly clear. The temperature at 9 a.m. was 5G degrees, and at 4 p.m. 50deg. Dunedin—Variable weather prevailed in Dunedin on Saturday, and a heavy hail shower fell late in the afternoon. Advice has been received that the Jmon Company's Mararna left Sydney on Thursday for Wellington. Shf is due there this morning and will lav up at Wellington until November 10 The vessel will then re-enter the intercolonial service, leaving Wellington that day for Sydney, and will run, during the summer months, in conjunction with the Wanganella. PERSONAL Messrs'E.. G. Meatyard and H. M. Hughes have been appointed second and third officer respectively on the Tamahine. Mr J. Beaton is relieving Mr J. \. Hughan as second male on the Rata. Captain W. Whitefield has taken command of the Waipiata, relieving Captain S. Hewitt, who has transferred to the Karetu. Captain S. A. Cha'ncld, of the latter vessel, is taking private leave at Auckland.

Captain E. A. Stein is taking command of the Kakariki, relieving Captain R. Huntly, who has transferred to the command of the Oonah. Captain E. Evans, of the latter vessel, is taking over the Loongana". Catpain J. Stewart- is taking command of the Kowhai shortly, relieving Captain Donald McDonald for holidays.

THE lONIC The Jonic is reported to have lcii New Plymouth on Saturday morning for Auckland, where she will complete loading for Southampton and London. MAHANA AT LONDON The Mahana, which left Auckland on September 2 for London and West Coast ports of the United Kingdom, via Montevideo and Teneriffe, arrived' at London on Friday morning. THE TEES The Chatham Islands steamer Teesarrived last night from the islands. She is to tail this afternoon for the islands, calling at Owenga and Pitt Island only.
