A NEW HALL
ST. LUKE'S ANGLICAN PARISH FOUNDATION STONE LAID BY LADY WIGRAM Before a large gathering of onlookers, Lady Wigram yesterday afternoon laid the foundation stone of the new parish hall, which is being built for St. Luke's Church, Manchester street, to replace the old building. The Sunday school was built in 1924, and the parish hall will complete the block. The service was preceded by a procession of clergy and choir, in robes, and carrying banners, and it was conducted by Bishop West-Watson. Assisting clergy were Archdeacons F. N. Taylor and P. B. Haggitt, and the Revs. H. J. T. Knight and K. Schollar. Archdeacon Taylor explained pat the total cost of the building would be about £2070; there was £1250 in hand, and in addition to promises of about £7O the Government subsidy wouW amount to £l4O. More than £6OO was yet required. It was hopedl tnai all the money would be received before the last payment became due. Lady Wigram was presented witn a bouquet, and in laying the. stone saio. "To the glory of God and in the faun of Jesus Christ, we place this founda tion stone. In the name of God we Father.
