WINTON LEAVES GALVESTON The Winton, en route from New York and Gulf of Mexico ports for New Zealand, is reported to have left Galveston on September 29. She is due at Auckland on November 1, and will later call at Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. TEES ITINERARY ALTERED The Tees left Waitangi at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon, and is now due at Lyttelton about 8 or 9 o'clock tomorrow night. Her itinerary has been altered. She is to leave Lyttelton on Monday afternoon for Owenga and Pitt Island only, omitting Waitangi this trip. She will return to Lyttelton, hence to Wellington to discharge fish. NEW SHAW, SAVILL VESSELS In each of the two 12,000-ton motor cargo liners which Harland and Wolff are building for the Shaw, Savill Line, a Clarkson exhaust gas boiler will bo installed. The boiler will be designed to utilise a percentage of the gases from one of the two Harland-B. and W. pressure-charged four-stroke engines, and is eft in diameter with an overall height of 15ft. The evaporation when working on exhaust gases will be 10001b an hour. The boiler is fitted with a combustion chamber to take oil-burning equipment, and will generate 20001b an hour from oil fuel. The working pressure is 1001b a square inch. Each unit is of the Clarkson'Simplex type, allowing accessibility to the water and gas space, without the need for headroom or the removal of any external piping for inspection.
