THE FINAL DAY WORKERS THANKED The final day of St. George's Mar- | ket, which was held in the old Art Gallery, Durham street, was opened yesterday afternoon by Miss Rose Muir, lady superintendent of the Christchurch Public Hospital. Miss Muir, in declaring the market open, hoped that this year's effort would, as usual, give the supporters of St. George's a strong sense of satisfaction. She expressed the wish that this day in particular should be very satisfactory, and that the results of the market »vould give happiness to the workers. Mr George Gould, chairman of the committee of St. George's Hospital, speaking on behalf of the executive, thanked the public for the splendid support given to the institution. He wished also to place on record the committee's appreciation of the excellent work which had been done in past years by the women workers, the Friends of St. George's, who had been untiring in their efforts on behalf of the hospital. The sisters and nurses also deserved congratulations, their stall at the market being stocked with a wonderful array of useful articles. Mr Gould B aid that so far the present market had been a great success, and it was hoped that the final returns would be equally satisfactory. Mr Dent expressed his great appreciation of the work of the organisers of the Rakaia stall. He regretted that Mrs R. A. Bagley, one of the chief workers, was unable to be present owing to ill health.
