PIONEER SPORTS CLUB FIXTURES October 8— Ooening run and rally Waihora Park. October 17—Club dance. October 21-Week-end run to Hanmer. October 28—Social pillion trial. The opening run and rally of all the sections of the Pioneer Sports Club, together with their friends, will, be held on Sunday. Members will assemble at the clubhouse at 9.30 a.m. and proceed to Waihora Park, where there will be a picnic and sporting competitions, in which the members of kindred sports bodies will participate. With favourable weather there should be a large and representative attendance. Hot water, ice creams, and soft drinks will be obtainable on the! grounds. On October 21 the members of the Pioneer Sports Club will hold a weekend run to Hanmer, returning the following Monday (Labour Day). Those who intend to take .part in this run are asked to get in touch with ths captain or secretary, so that the necessary camping arrangements may be I made. [activities are taken into consideration. j The club does not confine its activities to racing, social runs, and reliability trials, but does all in its power to improve conditions generally for motorists, and in conjunction with the South Island Motor Union with kindred associations, looks- after their interests in matters of legislation, taxation, and by-laws. Reciprocal relations exist with other motor organisations in the Dominion and Australia, and the club is affiliated through the South Island Motor Union with the Royal Automobile Club in London, and members, when visiting England, are entitled to free membership of this great club, with all its advantages, for a period of three months. A number of members have made use of this privilege and all speak highly of the treatment accorded them. A reciprocal arrangement has also been made with the Automobile Association of England—probably the largest and best-organised motor association in the world. Perhaps the greatest tribute that can be paid the club is the fact Chat so many of the members who joined the club in 1914 still retain their membership, though they have given up motor-cycling years ago, and several now reside in other parts of the Dominion; yet their subscription fees come each year with "best wishes for the old club» M
