POISONING OF DOGS

"CO TUB EDITOR Of TUB MESS. Sir,—There has been, some correspondence in your columns lately about the poisoning of dogs, and much argument whether the clogs deserved it or not. If any dogs in and around Christchurch deserve a fate as horrible as poisoning, it surely must be some that live somewhere to the west of the top of Fendalton road. At frequent intervals during the Hay and night (particularly if the latter is otherwise calm i'nd peaceful), they suddenly begin a canine chorus of howls, yelps, and barks that disturbs the whole neighbourhood. Awakened frequently by this pandemonium, I have listened vainly to hear their chanting change to a minor key as they received the belting they so thoroughly deserve, but in vain—the ghastly din goes on until finally the dogs go to sleep again from

sheer exhaustion, and the neighbours do likewise. This has been going on for months, and the owner of the pack has taken no steps to abate the nuisance. I write to ask you i£ you could (confidentially) supply me with the name and address of a good, reliable poisoner.—Yours, etc., FED UP. October 5, 1933.
