ANGORA RABBIT BREEDERS

i ' . FIELD AFTERNOON The second monthly field afternoon under the auspices of the Angora Rabbit Breeders' Association was held at Mr F. W. CuUimore's Bur wood Babbitries, 24 Bassett street, Burwood. Mr J. Bond, the president of the association, had extended a hearty welcome to more than 80 visitors, among whom were Mr W, Leadley, secretary to the Canterbury Disabled Soldiers' u.vu Re-establishment Committee, and the president and other officers of the Provincial Rabbit Farmers' Association. Mr Cullimore gave a short talk, describing his methods oX hutch building and his experience in Angora rabbit farmingjn general. Innovations which created a great deal of interest were the table show of stud bucks and a judging competition, which were the first of a series of similar competitions to be held at the monthly field afternoons, i A large number of high-class stud j bucks were exhibited .in the table : show, in which Mr Chammen's entry [ was awarded first prize, Miss Chemi ley's second, and Mr Cullimore's third. In the judging competition Miss Mathieson was awarded the first prize, being successful in placing in the correct prder of merit the first four prizewinners. Mr Boughen, president of the Provincial Rabbit Farmers' Association, gave a very interesting talk explaining the system of judging. A very hearty vote of thangs was accorded Mr Boughen for his very instructive talk. Afternoon tea was provided and a vote of thanks was accorded Mr and Mrs Cullimore for their hospitality.
