Simpjon, • Burke, R. Rusbridge, R. Downie, and J. Langridge. Canberra forced a corner through Bancroft. Sydenham then broke away and kept up a sustained attack, m which the ship's backs. Williams and Fitzpatrick, were prominent for good defensive work. Langridge opened the score. Sydenham 1, Canberra 0. Chapman, the Canberra goalkeeper, made a magnificent save from Downie. The Canberra men assumed the offensive for a time, Lintott, Bancroft, and Macdonald showing up in good work. Sydenham returned to the attack ana repeated attempts to score were nullified by infringements. Rusbridge at last found the net. Sydenham 2. Canberra 0. Bancroft and Macdonald were prominent in a Navy sortie on the right, and Lintott brought Snook out to save from the left ilank. The Canberra defence was well tested when Sydenham returned play from its own to the Navy twenty-five, Fitzpatrick and Chapman doing sp!lendid work to keep the invaders an check.
