"I must compliment Mr Knight on his clever point, but I do not agree with it," said Mr E. S. Brittenden, who represented the Railway Department at the sitting of the No. 8 Transport District Licensing Authority yesterday, when Mr H. J. Knight, who appeared on behalf of members of the New Zealand Road Transport Alliance, argued that since none of the evidence before the board was given on oath the onus lay on Mr Brittenden to call evidence to disprove statements made bv his clients. "Oh no, I deny that," said Mr Knight. "It wasn't a clever point at all." Mr Brittenden insisted that it was and eventually the chairman (Mr C. P. Agar) advised Mr Knight to cbtain a statutory declaration from his client or else to call evidence on the disputed point.
