The fortnightly euchre tournament, which was to have been held in the Trinity schoolroom on Monday evening in aid of the funds of the spring flower show, has been postponed until September 18 owing to the by-elec-tion. Miniature Rifle Shooting. The Lyttclton Miniature Rifle Club's president's team met Cashmere on Tuesday night, Lyttelton winning by 529 to 518. On Thursday the senior team was defeated by Sumner by 551 to 545. The shoot-off of a lie for the Johns trophy on Wednesday night resulted in a further tie between R. Sowden and J. Sowden, each with 69, and the tie will be shot off next Wednesday. The senior button was won by R. Sowden with 69, the president's button by L. Symonds with 69, and the third grade by W. Pattison with 65. The ladies' brooch was won by Miss M. Mills with a possible, 70. Miss Mills also won the final shoot for a trophy presented by Mr Johns. Harbour Light Theatre. There is no mystery in "Guilty as Charged," a comedy-drama starring Edmund Lowe and Victor McLaglen, which will be screened at the Harbour Light Theatre this afternoon and evening. But McLaglen, as a detective, and Lowe, as a reporter, fight and blunder their way through until they almost succeed in convicting an innocent man on circumstantial evidence. Richard Arlen and Adrienne Ames are also in the cast. "They Talk of Windy Wellington, but Lyttelton has a Permanent Breeze" is the caption used in announcing some views of a steamer ashore near the Lyttelton Heads in this week's New Zealand Soundscenes. This newsreel also contains the Otago-Canter-bury Ranfurly Shield match. A Paramount News and a Pictorial complete the programme. School Fair. A fair in aid of the funds of the Lyttelton District High School was opened in the playground yesterday afternoon. There was a large attendance of the public. Exhibitions of drill and folk dancing were given by the pupils. A large number of stalls did brisk business, some of them being sold out early in the afternoon. The side-shows were also well patronised. Last night the proceedings were enlivened by the Lyttelton Marine Band and a minstrel band, and community dancing was held. This afternoon there will be a baby show at the school and a procession of fancy dresses and decorated vehicles. Children's fancy dresses, decorated push-carts and tricycles, and the baby show will be judged at 2 o'clock. The other sections will be judged in the procession, which will commence at 2.15.
