With rivers well stocked a splendid trout fishing season, opening on October 1, is expected this year. The licenses have been printed this week and will be available for issue next week. This season there will be some slight amendments to the regulations. The restriction of the size of trout to be taken has been raised from nine inches to 10 inches, and the maximum number to be taken in one day by one fisherman must not exceed 20 fish. Lake Lyndon and Lake Georgina will be open for fly fishing only with a limit of 10 fish for each rod a The minimum size for fish taken from these two lakes has been fixed at 12 inches. No worm fishing will be permitted in the Ashley river from the mouth to the concrete bridge at Rangiora. No fishing will be allowed in Taylor's drain in an area reaching 200 yards up-stream from the culvert in Idris road.
