The Alexander is to take in cargo here to-morrow for Nelson, Mapua, and Motueka. The Wainui is to arrive here this morning from Timaru. She has a large quantity of Melbourne cargo for discharge, and will load here. It is hoped to dispatch her to-night for Wellington, Bluff, and Melbourne. The Waikouaiti is to arrive at Lvttelton to-day from Timari' to discharge a large consignment of coal from Newocastle and general cargo from Sydney. She will load here for Sydney and is to sail about Monday for Port Chalmers, Bluff, and Sydney.

The Titoki should be here this morning from Timaru. After loading for Napier, Gisborne, and Tauranga she will sail via Wellington. The Opihi, due to-day from the south, will load for Nelson, New Plymouth, and Westport, and is to sail via Wellington. The Port Whangarei is due here' from Timaru this morning. She is to sail this afternoon for Wellington, Auckland, Tauranga, and Whangarei.

The Gale is to arrive here to-mor-row from southern ports and will load for Wellington and Wanganui. The Storm is timed to load at Lyttelton on Monday for Wellington and Wanganui. The Kanna is an expected arrival at Lyttelton on Sunday from Timaru. She will complete discharge of a cargo of phosphates from Walpole Island. The North German Lloyd liner Bremen recently set a new record for the trans-Atlantic voyage, having covered the distance between Ambrose lightship, off New York, to Cherbourg in four days, 14 hours, and 43 minutes, at an average speed of 28.14 knots, which has never before been attained by a merchant vessel. ■
