SYDNEY, July 29. i The finding of the railway board of j ! enquiry into the Albury mail accident at Bowning is that the acci- j : dent was due to the breaking of a j i switch rail in the cashpoints while [ the locomotive was passing over it. ] j The negligence of the inspecting; ; engineer/the resident engineer, and I the sub-inspector in carrying out the examination of the catchpoints made ; those officers equally responsible I with the ganger for the accident. All • four persons will be "suitably dealt | ! with." I lOn July 11 the engine of the | ' Wagga express was derailed half a 'mile from the Bowning station, 10 miles from Yass, with its tender. The ! engine ploughed along for 50 yards 'before it came to a standstill. The ] first carriage, a sleeper, was badly smashed, the next car was overturned, ! and the other six, which were de--1 railed, hung precariously over an emi bankment. There were about 200 pas- | sengers on the train. Five were in- j ijured.l I
