♦ CANTERBURY AND WEST COAST CENTRE. The following members of a St. John Ambulance . Association class have qualified for a certificate in first aid to the injured:—Messrs D. O'Connell, R. Neville, W. Angus, T. O'Boyle.
NEW BRIGHTON DIVISION.
A concert in aid of the uniform fund of the New Brighton Division of St. John Ambulance Association was held in the Memorial Hall on Saturday evening. The concert was given by the Royal Chautauqua Variety Entertainers. The juggling of Mr Pat Barnard received great applause, as did his "chalk talks." The musicall portion of the programme was provided by Mr and Mrs Les Scrimshaw. The paper folding of Mr C. Coates was well received. The humorous part of the performance was provided by Mr Eddie Hegan. Mr Jack Scarf gave a ventriloquial act. The pianist was Mr Norman Carson. After the performance supper was provided and a dance followed at which Mr L. R. Moore was the master of ceremonies. Before the last item Mr F. J. Lawrence Scott thanked the performers.
