CHRISTCHURCH. Limited supplies of vegetables arc available, and prices are firm. Ruling values are as follows: — Cauliflowers, best quality 6s to 12s Hd a dozen, others 3s to 6s; cabbages, best, quality 5s to 9s a dozen, others 2s to ss, sacks 3s to lis: lettuces, best quality hothouse 5s to 7s Id a dozen, outdoor Is to 2s Od: marrows, best quality 5s to Bs, others 2s to 5s a dozen; celery, best quality 5s to 9s 6d a dozen, others 6d to 4s 6d, according to quality; potatoes, best quality 2s to 2s 6d a sugar bag, sacks 8s to 10s; root varieties, 4d to Is a dozen, spinach, Is to Is 6d a dozen (small); swedes, local 9d to Is a sugar bag, Southland Is 3d to Is 6d, pumpkins. Id to lid per lb; rhubarb, extra large bundles up to 13s a dozen, small up to 7s 8d a dozen. Good quality lines of tomatoes are scarce, yesterday's values being up to Is !)d per lb for best quality. Pears, supplies of Winter Cole pears, ex cool store, are available, choice lines 3s 6d to 5s a half case, cooking varieties 2s 6d to 3s 6d. Plentiful supplies of Delicious apples are available, and values are a little lower, best quality lines 6s to 7s a case, others 5s to 6s. Good quality Jonathans are scarce and realising up to 7s a case, Inferior 4s toss6d. Lord Wolseleys, 6s to 7s a case according to quality, other cooking varieties 4s 6d to 6s a case. Sturmers, plentiful supplies are available and arc realising for best quality 6s a case, others 4s to ss. New Zealand lemons, supplies are more plentiful and prices are a little lower; extra choice lines up to 17s a case, others 10s to 14b. Poorman. oranges are plentiful and are bringing 6s to 7s a case. Imported Fruit—A shipment of Californian Valencia* and grapefruit, came to hand during the week, the valencias realising 33s to 34s a case, arid grapefruit. 37s 6d a case. A shipment, of Tsland orange* and » few tomatoes :y)zo came to hand during the week. The oranges were in excellent condition and realised from 19s to 23s Od a case, and the tomatoes 12s to 15s. Hawaiian pines: A few cases were available during the week, and realised up to 268 a case for best quality.

A all shipment of i island oranges arrived on the market j on Thursday. These were in better ! condition that has been the case with previous shipments. Higher prices were obtained, and the line has now i been cleared out of wholesale hands. J Fresh supplies of Californian Valencias . also arrived on Thursday. These were i ottering at lower rates. A small line i of Californian plums realised 23s 6cl a case of 261b trays ! Californian cherries brought 18s a tray of 91b. The cherries were wasty, I but, the plums were in exeetlont con- | dition. Californian lemons and grape- j fruit were again on the market. North Island lemons are in heavier supply, and the market for these has eased. North Island poorman oranges are in better supply, and the prices are lower. Good prices are being obtained for dessert pears. Odd lines of hothouse to atoes are still arriving from Christchurch. Bananas are not so plentiful. A further shipment of Rarotongans arrived on Thursday, and these will be ripe early next week.
