The cement which was ordered some months ago for the purpose of completing the construction of the auditorium, which forms the central feature of the Napier Marine Parade beautification scheme, has now arrived from England, and it is expected that a start will shortly be made with the completion of the surfacing. At the present time the question of the design in the centre of the auditorium is being considered, and this will have-to be determined before the work is carried out. In this issue the Railway Department advertises particulars of altered running of the 11.10 a.m. AshburtonChristchurch train, which leaves Ashburton at 12.35 p.m. as a fast passenger train, arriving at Christchurch at 2.20 pm. on Wednesday, August 2; also the issue of mid-week fares by this train, for the Ranfurly Shield match. Ashburton v Canterbury.
