RUGBY. TNTER-SCHOOLS' MATCH. COLLEGE V. OTAGO HIGH SCHOOL. More than usual interest is being taken this year in the annual Rugby football match between Christ's College and Otago Boys' High School, for it marks the fiftieth anniversary of the first game in 1883. The Otago team will arrive from the south tins evening, and will be entertained tonight in the college gymnasium. The match will be played at the Christ's College ground on Monday afternoon. Since 1883 the honours of the annua] matel. have been shared very evenly. Forty-eight matches have been played. of which 24 have been won by College, 22 by Otago, and two have been drawn. The points total is: Christ's College 492. Otago High School 418. In the whole 50 years only two matches had to be abandoned, the first on account of bad weather in 1918 and the other through an epidemic of influenza at Christ's College in .1923. In a recent article in "The Press" on secondary schools' Rugby, Mr R. M. Thomson wrote:— "In certain respects the contests between Christ's College and Otago High School, Dunedin, may be said to possess more historical value than that of School and College. This series was established and maintained in .years in which travelling was not by any means an easy matter. One can readily believe that the long and tedious journey between Christchurch and Dunedin must, have presented great difficulties to these early pioneers of our schools' Rugby. That the contest coidd be maintained from year to year is therefore a fine tribute indeed to those who led the day; as also to the line sporting spirit animating the two schools. This contest not only strengthens Christ's College's claim to be regarded as our pioneer Rugby school, but it also introduces to the Rugby world a school which has already won ■"} inter-high schools' tournament on three occasions, and in 1931, at Timaru, gave a very doughty Christchurch High School fifteen a sterling contest for the final of that year's tournament. The resultant score was: Christchurch 7, Otago 5." PREBBLETON CLUB. Under 17 v. Beckenham, at I'rcbbleton Domain—A. Choamar, W. Millar, It. Prebble, G. Gallagher, U. Smith, H. (lowers, J.
