Hi;,'h Pitch has lost a lot of his brilliance over the battens, and is not fancied in this company. Hounslow benefited i considerably by his races at Trentham. and his gallop on Thursday was. i worthy of notice. Nightcap will require a race, following his recent let-j j up. Punchestown is in winning form, j I and the manner in which he mowed j i down the useful field in his race at j ' Washdyke labt week suggested a big : future for him. None of the others , can be seriously regarded, and the j favourite division will probably be ; comprised of Hounslow. SO The Brabazon Handicap, as m previous years, can be considered in the iir-'nt of a Winter Cup dress rehearsal, as' half of the field are likely contestants in the bn* mile event. One cjonce at the list of acceptors will suffice for racegoers to realise the intricate task confronting them, and it can be safely said that the race presents more possibilities than has been the case for many years past. Silver H':ni> is undoubtedly coming rictht again, but is still carrying a little surplus condition, and will need the race. Shatter is not liked over a seven furlong journey, but Hurlingham will have many followers, in spite of his weight. Chrysology cannot be expected to be ready, and the same suggestion may apply to Martian Chief. Spoon, and Gustavo. Polydora has a j.;ood chance! but much will depend on the position she draws, and her fortunes over the first furlong. Cottesmore disappointed on the soft ground at Trentham, but won two races on his last appearance at Riccarton. Grecian Prince is a. decided possibility, white Red Boa will be in keen or-mand should the track be soft. Cranford has bc-cn accepted m this in preference to tiie hack race, and should make a creditable showing. He is a bold galloper, and ability to begin fast will always cause him lo be dangerous. Of the remainder, Errantry makes the most appeal. Little notice need be taken of his failures at Trentham, as he was totally unable to handle the heavy going there. With such an array of talent at the disposal of investors, speculation is certain to take a wide range, and the final summing up may be in favour of Polydora. Cranford and Grecian Prince.
