AUSTRALIA'S LOANS FROM AMERICA.
CONVERSION SUGGESTED. (Received July 27, 11.40 p.m.) LONDON, July 27. The "Financial Times" suggests that in view of the Treasury's dollar bond conversion scheme, there ought to be no objection to Australia doing the same with her United States loans. (The treasury is converting an American war loan of 136,333,500 dollars in dollar bonds on the basis of 260 sterling bonds for every 1000 dollars. This involves an increase in principal, but a drop in the total interest paid, the rate being reduced from 5J per cent, to 2J.1
