NO REMITTANCE FROM GERMANY. HELP FROM SYMPATHISERS. | (Received July 27, 8.50 p.m.) j LONDON, July 27. Ilitherto the German Government has permitted remittances, limited to £l3 a month, to be sent to Jewish refugees. This privilege has now been withdrawn, on the ground that the emigrants have been attempting gradually to transfer the whole of their property. This leaves approximately 1500 Jewish refugees in Great Britain penniless. The Jewish Refugee Committee has assured the Government that none will be allowed to become a charge on the country, all being assisted by the committee. PERSECUTION BY NAZIS. CRITICISM IN HOUSE OF COMMONS. DR. EINSTEIN PRESENT. LONDON, July 26. Dr. Albert Einstein sat in the House of Commons gallery when Commander O. Locker-Lampson (Conservative) introduced the Nationality of Jews Bill, designed to promote and extend citizenship in Palestine of Jews deprived of their citizenship elsewhere. Commander Locker-Lampson said he felt that Germany and the Ger- : man people had been misled. She had not driven out her cut-throats and blackguards, but the cream of j

her culture. She had even turned on her most eminent citizen, Dr. Einstein, and plundered his home. Dr. Einstein was generally acknowledged as the world's most eminent man of science, and England was proud to afford him shelter at Oxford. Commander Locker-Lampson said he wished the League of Nations could send a mission of enquiry to Germany." If that was not possible, the British Empire, which was a real league of nations, should stand up for Jewry. SEARCH OF TRAFFIC. SUCCESS CLAIMED. (Received July 27, 8.20 p.m.) BERLIN, July 26. The thorough search made when all traffic was held is alleged to have resulted in the discovery of an enormous quantity of illegal literature, ammunition, weapons, and secret messages. Those arrested include Communist couriers, foreigners with false passports, which is regarded as proof that the enemies of the State are systematically coming over the^frontier. HAMBURG-AMERIKA LINE. JEWISH DIRECTORS REPLACED. BERLIN, July 26. The Hamburg-Amerika Steamship Line has elected a new board of directors, replacing Jews by Aryans. A Nazi replaced the chairman, who, in a farewell speech, admitted that the company was suffering from the foreign hostility to Hitlerism. [The Hamburg-Amerika line was built up by Herr Albert Ballin, who was a Jew. He was one of the leading business men of pre-war Germany, and was a friend of the Kaiser.l
