Many persons are taking more interest in trees as trees than they used to show," Mr H. Kitson remarked at the meeting of the Canterbury District Council of the New Zealand Institute of Horticulture last night when suggesting that an effort should be made to arrange for a lecture, in the open, on the trees in the Botanic Gardens. He added that there was a good collection of trees m Hagley Park and in the gardens, and many persons passed them and did not know anything about them though they would like to know about them. The Christchurch Domains Board would be only too pleased to co-operate with the council of the institute in the matter because the council would not only be doing good work but would be assisting to popularise the parks and gardens. i
