*. — RUGBY LEAGUE. (aPZCIAL 'lO THE I'KESS.) REEFTON, July 26. The following is ttic team to represent the Northern Division against the West Coast in the return match next week-end: Lamberton (Ahaura), M. Morris (Waratah). C. McElwee (Reefton, captain), Miller (Reefton), W. King (Waratah), P. Scott (Waratah), T. Savage (Ahaura), A. McElwee (Reef ton), J. Robertson (Reef ton), Morrell (Waiuta), G. Dutton (Reefton), Ford, G. August (Waratah). Emergencies: N. Orsbourn (Reefton), Maloney. The weekly meeting of the management committee of the Reefton Rugby League Club was held last evening, when Mr C. Chandler was in the chair. It was decided to notify the Mawheraiti Club that Reefton had no desire to take players from their club and that permission be obtained from the sub-centre for Reefton juniors to play a curtain-raiser to the representative
Considerable interest is being taken in the return representative match, which will be played this week-end. The previous match resulted in a win for the West Coast by 16 points to 12. Some new blood has been placed in the northern division team, and a few alterations in the placing should result in the team making a good showing. Musical Society. The monthly meeting of the Reefton Musical and Literary Society was held in the Catholic Hall last evening. The Rev. Father Seymour presided. Mr W. B. Auld was welcomed back after a long illness. The programme was given by Mr Brett, vocal solos; Mr S. Ferris, mouth-organ solos; solo, Mrs Campbell; duets, Mesdames Sharpe and Discaciati and Mrs Sharpe and Miss Magee; solo, Mr Campbell; piano duet, Miss Farrell and Mrs Discaciati; and three numbers were given by the Glee Circle. A debate on the subject "Is Modern Advertising Overdone?" was also held, The affirmative was taken by Messrs Clark, Dellaca, end Haigh, while the negative was taken by Messrs McElwee, Floyd, and Baird. Accompanists for the evening were Mesdames Lawn and Discaciati :md Misses Magee and Stallard.
