PLACE AUX DAMES.

TO TE! EDITOa Or THE FBESS. Sir—ls your correspondent "Nino di Somma" really serious when he suggests that we should hand over the reins of government in New Zealand to the fair sex or is he trying to qualify us all for that institution up Lincoln road and himself included'. Now that Mr Nino di Somma is off the gold standard and on the woman standard he is sadly out of his depth. When he states in his last letter that "The Douglas credit people, the New Zealand Legion and the communists have told us about the iniquities of our social and political order," etc., and. that, "We are all agreed that we are in a deplorable mess and that there is no way out," etc., he is very wide of the mark, for the New Zealand Legion is clearly showing us one way out, and when it gets its half a million of members will be able to take a definite stand and make itself felt. Even Mr J. McCombs is now getting very concerned about it, for he can

see the writing on the wall, now that the New Zealand Legion has stated its policy and has a fixed objective in view. By the time that the next election comes round it will be in a very strong position, and, with the best brains of the country in both men and women, should soon be able to get us out of this deplorable muddle that Mr Nino di Somma talks about—Yours, GtC '' S. W. HICKMOTT. July 27, 1933.
