* NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION. TRANSFER OF WAIROA. The delegates to the New Zealand Hockey Association last night granted the transfer of the Wairoa Hockey Association from Hawkc's Bay to the Poverty Bay Association. Mr H. S. J. Goodman presided over an attendance of 20 delegates, and Mr W. H. Down 'Dannevirke) moved the resot ion. that Wairoa be granted a transfer of their afliliation from Hawkc's Bay to the Poverty Bay Association. In moving the resolution Mr Down stated that the reason for the application of the transfer was the question of transport, which was easier and quicker from Wairoa to Gisborne than from Wairoa to Napier. The Hawkc's Bay Association offered no objection to the transfer, and staled that they considered that Wairoa would be better served by being affiliated to Poverty Bay. Mr Throp suggested that, as ladies' hockey might be affected by the transfer, the New Zealand Ladies' Association be approached in the matter. Many delegates did not favour Mr Throp's-suggestion, and the motion was carried by 13 votes to four. Mr Down < Dannevirke) stated that his association had asked him to introduce the advisability of inviting an Australian team next season. As the question entailed a fortnight'? notice, the chairman suggested that the matter be held over. Executive Meeting. A meeting of the executive was held after 1 lie meeting of delegates, Mr H. S. J. Goodman presiding, and the following members were also present: Messrs H. Throp, I. Gunn, C. Bellamy. R. Gracie. and W. H. Down. The Auckland and Poverty Bay Associations wrote accepting August 5 as the date of the Challenge Shield match and Messrs A. G. Williams and E. J. Hewitt were approved as umpires for the match. The Manawatu Association forwarded a challenge for the New Zealand Challenge Shield, and asked that the match be played in September. The date and challenge were forwarded to the Auckland Association for approval. The Waiapu Association's suggestion that their Nordon Cup match against Hastings be played on August 9 at Te Awamutu was forwarded to Hastings. The Nelson Association asked for particulars regarding players nominated for the Inter-Island match, which will be played at Nelson on September 2. Mr R. L. Thompson (Wanganui) wrote accepting the position of manager of the North Island team for the match. The Taranaki Association forwarded a challenge for the Junior Challenge Cup.
