Coates. speaking at th e Counties' Conference luncheon today. "It is the will to carry oa that will see us through our difficult ties. I would say that a cairn survey of the situation to-day discloses a trend definitely more encouraging than has been the case for some time past. "We can talk with a little more con fidence than we could a short time ago," said Mr Coates. "Prices scera to be moving in the right direction, although not so quickly as we would like," but the "general tone is better than it has been for some time."' The Hon. E. A. Ransom said that the country was at present suffering from the effects of reduced expenditure. He was convinced that as the present improvement in trade became more apparent money would begin to flow more freely.
