NAPOLEONIC RELICS.
COSTLY LOVE LETTERS. LONDON, July 26. At the sale of Lord Rosebery's library eight early love letters which Napoleon wrote to Josephine realised £4400. The letters, stained and faded, were written between 1798 and 1800, and are full of passionate phrases protesting his devotion to "sweet incomparable Josephine."
Napoleonic relics realised £ 13,000, including £IOOO for a letter addressed to Marie Louise when Napoleon left Elba.
