RICCARTON AVENUE.
TO TUB BMTUR or THE TRESS Sir, —As a motorist who, unfortunately has to travel to business via Riccarton avenue, I would say without fear of contradiction that this is tho worst road within the city area, despite the fact that it is one of our main outlets. Some time ago, a commission was sot up to ascertain whether the responsibility for this road lay with the Riccarton JLsorou;''h Council or with the Chnstchurcii City Council, and the verdict went against the latter body, which, however, appears to be shirking the matter. In its present condition the road Is extremely dangerous to motorists, and there is no doubt that, if no improvement is made, some serious accident will result. The City Council should by compelled to proceed immediately with the work of reconstruction, or else the . road should be permanently closed.—Yours, etc., MOTORIST. July 2(3, 1933.
