After having difficulty for some time with the renting of a house at 218 Armagh street next to the destructor, the Christchurch City Council, on the recommendation of its finance committee, decided last night to offer it to the Salvation Army for use as a relief depot. The expenditure of £6O would be necessary, reported the committee, to make it suitable for the new work. The premises would be very much more suitable for the army's purpose than the present building next to the council chambers. The committee reported that its offer had been gratefully accepted by the Army, and the building alterations were in hand.
