A statement that the Cliristchurch City Council was always willing to lay out lawns outside the front fences of suburban homes was made by a member of the Richmond Burgesses at the meeting of the association last evening. The member stated that two or three residents in Richmond had taken advantage of this and had either written to or telephoned the council making this request, which had immediately been complied with. "They top-dress the area just as they did the Godley plot," he concluded. „ Nearly half the flying machines sold this year in Britain so far have been bought on the hire-purchase system. Motor-cars and power-boats Have even been accepted in part payment.
