The works committee of the Christchurch City Council does not consider that there is any justification for statements that the city streets and paths are being cleaned in a less saisfactory manner than in the past. Reporting to the council last night, the committee pointed out that the automatic sweeper was operated in the square and the principal streets every r.ight and. in other streets every second or third night; that paths and channels were swept in the early mornings; that channel sweepings were collected on drays in the early morning; and that sundry path and road sweeping was done by day in the less busy thoroughfares.
