CANTERBURY MUSEUM.

TO TILE KDITOtt Of THE fBXdS. Sir,—ls it true that Mr George Gould, whose father was so generous in his donations to our museum, and those in control of the Soldiers' Memorial Fund, are considering the possibility of building a Memorial Wing to the museum, instead of erecting a column? If it be so, I, as one of the original subscribers to the memorial fund, would like to say how strongly I would support it. What more fitting memorial to our fallen men could we have than a wing added to the museum devoted, say, specially to the educational interest of children? Such a step would, incidentally, solve the problem, now exercising the minds of our citizens, as to the tragedy of foregoing a grant of possibly £20,000 to our museum from the Carnegie Trust. It would also give employment to many workless men, and it would put into the realms of possibility the possession in Christchurch o' me finest museum in New Zealand.—Yours, etc., CANTERBURY.

July 16, 1933. [Mr Gould said last night that this was the first he had heard of the suggestion, and that to give it consideration at this stage was out of the question.]
