SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

CASHMERE. I At the monthly meeting of the Cashmere School Committee there were present: Mrs L. Baker, Messrs J. H. Kidd (chairman), E. W. White, J. W. Graham, S. C. Andrews, A. J. Archibald, R. S. H. .Buchanan (secretary), and Mr W. S. Napier (headmaster). A request from the Methodist Women's Bible Class Union for the use of the school at Easter was granted, subject to approval by the Education Board. The headmaster's report showed an excellent attendance during the last four weeks. The sum of 26s had been raised by means of a copper trail in aid of the Business Men's Relief of Distress Committee, the money to be expended on -materials to be made up for clothes by the senior girls. A request from the infant mistress for more material for the infant room was embodied in the report. The headmaster explained that this was needed to replace worn-out material, and that no handwork material or infant room apparatus had been forwarded by the Education Board in the last two years. The secretary called attention to the constant demands placed on the No. 2 account, which would have to bear the cost in this instance. Permission was given to purchase the materials to the amount of £2. A request for garden seeds and tools was held over. The secretary was instructed to bring the charges against the No. 2 account before the executive of the Canterbury School Committees' Association. Messrs Kidd and Buchanan were appointed the trustees for a sum of money to be placed in the Post Office Savings Bank.

OPAWA. At the monthly meeting of the Opawa School Committee there were present: Messrs V. Blakley (chairman), C. T. Pease, L. A. Jarden, J. F. Warren, H. E. Leech, E. H. Scott, L. W. Ray, F. H.
