RANGITIKI DANCE. The social and athletic club of the motor-liner Rangitiki will hold dances in the Excelsior Hall to-night and tomorrow night. The latest London I dance music will be played by the I ship's orchestra. I Fire Brigade Social. Active and honorary members of the Lyttclton Volunteer Fire Brigade held a social evening on Saturday. There was an attendance of more than 30 couples. Dance music was provided by Mr J. Wyatt and orchestra. Mr K. Harvey and Mrs R. Maulden won a musi-cal-arms competition, and Mr A. Wyatt and Mrs W. Marshall were the winners of a lucky-spot waltz. ! Golf. ; The match which was to have been i played at Diamond Harbour yesterday ! between teams representing the Diamond Harbour Club and the Akaroa Club was cancelled on Saturday owing to the heavy rain making it difficult for the Akaroa team to travel. Playing in the first round of the senior championship of the Lyttelton Golf Club at Charteris Bay yesterday, D. E. L. Collett beat M. L. Page 2 and 1, L. Gower beat C. Plimmer 5 and 4, and K., Gower beat H. Derbidge 1 up. Junior championship—R. Crawford beat D. R. Wallace 2 and 1, T. Bowling beat I. Gardiner 7 and 6, H. Fletcher beat A. Anderson 8 and 6. Women's senior championship—Miss E. White-Parsons beat Miss C. Williams. Junior—Miss W. White-Parsons beat Miss E. Bundy. St. Saviour's Social. The parish social held in St. Saviour's schoolroom on Friday night was well; attended. Songs were given by Miss Myra Sutton and Mr L. Toomey. Dance music was provided by Miss P. Plimmer, and Mrs H. Oates played supper extras. Mr T. Dyne was master of ceremonies. Mr L. Bradley and Miss L. Hendry were the winners of the Monte Carlo fox-trot, and Mr D.
