THE MONETARY SYSTEM.

FARMERS DISSATISFIED. U'KESP ASSOCIATION TEf.ia RAM.) WELLINGTON. July 15. At the Farmers' Union conference several remits relating to monetary and price problems were referred to a committee, the report of which was not made public. The matter was discussed with the ActingPrime Minister, the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, who attended a sitting of the conference for this purpose. The general attitude was one of dissatisfaction with the present monetary system, but delegates were disinclined to indicate definite alternatives. A suggestion was made that the matter should be thoroughly investigated by a tribunal with a Supreme Court judge presiding. It is understood that the Government favours some investigation, and that during the coming session a special parliamentary committee will probably be appointed to hear evidence and report on various monetary systems.
