CURRENT NOTES.

Their Excellencies Lord and Ladv Bledisloe this week attended a large reception given by members of the Lyceum Club, Auckland, to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the club. The president, Mrs W. H. Parkes, welcomed the Vice-Regal party. Mrs R. H. Bettington left Auckland on Tuesday by the Monowai for Sydney on her return from a visit to her parents, Mr and Mrs T. H. Lowry, of Hawke's Bay. Miss_ Kathleen Gunn, who has been in Hamilton, is spending a fortnight with her parents at Karori, Wellington, before joining the staff of the Christchurch Hospital.

Mrs A. J. Benzie will leave New Zealand by the Rangitiki on August 4 for England to visit her mother in Chester. She will alscj spend some time with her sister in Northampton, where she was born. She intends to return to the Dominion about November of next year. Miss Amy Kane (Wellington) will be a visitor to Christchurch for the Dominion conference of Women's Institutes, over which she will preside. The conference will open on Julv 26.

Airs A lister MacKenzie (Clayton Station, Fairlie) will attend the Dominion conference of the Women's Institute, which will open in Christchurch on July 26.

Miss Violet White-Parsons (Launceston), who has been visiting Mr and Mrs A. White-Parsons, Lyttelton, and Captain and Mrs WhiteParsons, Napier, has left on her return journey to Tasmania. Mrs J. F. Studholme (Fendalton), who lias been visiting South Canterbury, will return to Christchurch this evening. Miss Isobel Calder (Halkett) is paying a visit to Methven.

Mrs L. PI. Hunt (Wellington) will arrive in Christchurch on Saturday morning to visit her brother and sister-in-law, Mr and Mrs Douglas McDonald, Rhodes street, Fendalton. Miss Marjorie Myers, who arrived in the Dominion from England some months ago, and who has been the guest of Mrs J. G. Coates, Wellington, will arrive in Christchurch on Saturday morning. Miss Nora McLean (Fendalton), who has been spending three months at Springfield, returned to Christchurch yesterday. Mr and Mrs Peter Hall (Fendalton) are paying a short visit to Mr and Mrs Bruce Murray, "Godley Peaks," Mackenzie Country. The meeting of the Home Economics Association will be held in the Municipal Electricity Department's demonstration room to-night, when Miss Powell, B.Sc.. will give a demonstration on wholemeal cookep' to the members of the association and friends.
