Former soldiers have succeeded in a campaign to abolish captured German war material which has occupied park* and beauty spots for a dozen years at Barry, the South Wales holiday resort. Final steps were taken recently by the local council to remove tanks and guns and turn them into scrap iron. The sweeping away of war relics is a result of pressure by the British Legion at Barry, who, speaking as former servicemen, advocated the abolition of all reminders of the last war. The proceeds of the sale of the relics as scrap iron will be devoted to the children's boot fund.
